- Round Up Savings turns everyday debit card purchases into small automatic savings transfers.
- Automatic saving can help members build consistency without relying on manual transfers.
- Heartland’s Round Up Savings account helps make saving part of daily life.
Saving does not always require a major change to your budget. With round-up savings, small amounts from everyday purchases can automatically roll into savings, helping you build the habit one transaction at a time.
What Is Round Up Savings?
Round Up Savings rounds a debit card purchase to the nearest dollar and moves the difference into a connected savings account. For example, a $6.40 purchase can create a $0.60 savings transfer. Over time, those small amounts can add up without requiring you to schedule every deposit.
Why Automatic Saving Can Work
Traditional saving often depends on remembering to move money after payday. Round Up Savings connects saving to purchases you already make, which can make the habit feel more consistent. You can also pair round-ups with regular transfers when working toward a larger goal.
How Heartland Makes Round Up Savings Simple
At Heartland Credit Union, our Round Up Savings account uses qualifying debit card purchases to help members save automatically. We currently have up to 10.00% APY on eligible balances. Because savings rates can change, please review our current rates and account disclosures before opening an account.
Make Small Savings Part of Your Routine
Use your debit card for everyday purchases and let small transfers help your savings goals grow over time. For an even stronger habit, combine round-ups with a regular savings amount that fits your budget. Contact us to learn more.

*APY is Annual Percentage Yield. When a debit purchase is made with a Heartland debit card, the transaction is rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the increased amount is then transferred to the Round Up Savings account. For example, a $1.75 charge will result in a $0.25 transfer (if no other transactions post on the same day.) Posting amounts ending in .00, round up a full dollar. For example, a $10.00 charge will result in a $1.00 transfer (if no other transactions post on the same day.) Round up transfers will be made for signature-based purchases, PIN based POS purchases, and online purchases/transactions. One transfer of all calculated funds will be made each day. Round up transfers will not cause the account to post a negative balance or post below available funds. Partial transfers may be allowed. There will be no catch-up transfers. If the transfer can’t happen on Monday then Monday’s transactions never get rounded up. If there is money again on Tuesday then Tuesday’s transactions will round up.
